Mesotherapy Cellulite Treatment
Mesotherapy cellulite treatment is a way to remove bothersome
cellulite, which can be regarded as a problem even when not overweight.
Cellulite appears as puckering, dimpling, and lumpiness and is
the deposit of fat beneath the skin within fibrous connective
tissue. It tends to develop on the thighs, hips, and buttocks.
Cellulite develops when the fat cells are sculpted into “lumps” by
the surrounding connective tissue tightening around them, causing
individual pockets of fat to bulge and herniate into the skin
layers.
The term “cellulite” was coined in 1973, and cellulite
is a perfectly normal human variation. However, cellulite affects
women more than men because of the differences between the way
that fat, muscle, and connective tissue are distributed in men
and women’s skin. Female hormones may play a role in contributing
to the fat distribution, but cellulite is not treatable by hormone
therapy.
Mesotherapy cellulite treatment reduces cellulite by a series
of superficial injections into the affected areas. It is similar
to lipotherapy in that it works by dissolving the fat cells,
which are then transported away from the subdermal layer and
removed from the body. About 85% of patients have a significant,
visible reduction of cellulite. Because of the nature of individual
response, no results can be guaranteed.
Mesotherapy is not designed as a weight loss program and works
best in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise program,
such as WIN’s Clean & Lean Cleansing and Weight Loss program. The results of mesotherapy will remain as long as significant
additional weight is not gained. Sometimes, touch-up treatment
may be required.
Optimal results typically occur after 5-10 treatments. Injections
can be given every week up to a maximum of ten treatments per
area in six months. The number of injections required depends
on the thickness of the fat layer and individual response. The
series can be repeated again every six months but this is usually
not necessary.
Mild local irritation and redness of the skin for twenty minutes
or longer are common side effects. Bruising and tenderness may
also occur and usually subside within four days or less. Rare
side effects can include allergy, swelling, or infection at the
injection site. Only one area is treated on the first visit to
assess the patient’s reactivity, and no more than two areas
are treated at any one visit.
To be eligible for mesotherapy you must be at least 18 years
of age and have a body mass index of 30 or less. In addition,
mesotherapy cellulite treatment is not for hemophiliacs, patients
on blood thinning medications, insulin-dependent diabetics, those
with severe hypertension or cardiac problems, HIV, kidney disease,
allergies to injectable substances, a debilitating disease, or
those otherwise deemed unsuitable by the treating physician.
