Physical Medicine
Physical Medicine is the general term to describe the hands-on
modality treatments that we perform on patients. Many are geared
toward treating musculoskeletal complaints but many internal
medical conditions also respond favorably to hands-on treatment.
Constitutional Hydrotherapy is a form of hot/cold
contrast hydrotherapy together with electrical muscle stimulation.
It stimulates the patient’s overall vitality by promoting
accelerated circulation to stagnant parts of the body, by encouraging
a parasympathetic (relaxed) nervous system state, by moving lymph
back into the circulatory system, and by promoting better digestion.
Cranial-Sacral Therapy (CST) is a light touch
manual approach that enhances the body’s natural healing
capabilities. By applying very light pressure, the practitioner
releases restrictions in the flow of cerebrospinal fluid and
cranial bones. This frees up areas of subtle tension that inhibit
the body’s normal, self-correcting tendencies. CST can
be used on its own or combined with other physical therapies.
Hydrotherapy is the therapeutic application
of hot and/or cold water to induce thermal changes on the skin,
vascular system and organs to promote or reduce blood flow, increase
immunity, and boost overall vitality.
Massage includes a variety of hands-on, soft
tissue techniques to reduce muscle tension, spasms, and relieve
stress.
Peat Baths and Packs are the therapeutic applications
of rare-earth, mineral rich, anti-inflammatory peat mud to treat
pain conditions and promote systemic detoxification.
Spinal Manipulation is the art of reducing
misalignments of the spine. The benefits include pain relief
through the release of natural pain reducing chemicals called
opioids, optimal joint range of motion, better posture, and optimal
spinal nerve conduction.
Therapeutic Ultrasound is the use of gentle
sound waves to heat and massage tissues, relieve muscle tension,
and help therapeutic agents pass through the skin.
Trigger Point Injections are injection techniques
utilizing homeopathic medications, local anesthetics, vitamins,
and minerals to treat fibromyalgia trigger points, tendonitis,
arthritic joints, and other very localized ailments.
